ABOUT THE PRINT
CREATURE NAME: Rhizostoma pulmo, or Barrel jellyfish
NATURAL HABITAT: It is found in the northeast Atlantic, and in the Adriatic, Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea and Sea of Azov + British waters.
DIMENSIONS: It typically is up to 40 cm (16 in) in diameter, but can exceptionally reach 150 cm (59 in).
CURIOUS FACTS: It’s edible! You can make a salad with it. It is a favourite food of the leather back turtle. Barrel jellyfish feed entirely on tiny plankton, so their sting is too weak to hurt humans.
LEAVE NO TRACE BEHIND
Each Different Kind item is built to last, but if its life has come to an end, you can learn about our send me back repair program and let us try repairing it, or follow these simple instructions for disposal:
1. You can put the black buckles in the plastic recycling as they are made of recycled PET.
2. Buttons and stoppers can be put in the soil, or disposed of in the compost bin, since they are made of bioplastics that are compostable and biodegradable even in the ocean.
